Mr O’Donnell noted that the show highlights the importance of sport in preserving peace, improving the public health of the nation, and ensuring sustainable development. ‘The Golden Liliya show and Liliya herself provide extremely important positive role models for the community, and the UN is proud to be involved in such an event,’ Mr O’Donnell said.

Golden Liliya is a festival with more than 500 participants from 12 countries. It is a show which evokes a positive emotional and aesthetic response, because sport and art are universal languages of communication.

Stars of sport and the arts best embody the most positive traits of the modern person, combining willpower and the desire to succeed with supreme mental and physical discipline. These stars were invited to participate in Golden Liliya so that children may follow their example and realize that the attainments of the show’s participants are also within their reach.

Golden Liliya is a five-part show featuring acrobatics, aerobics, ballet, trampoline, gymnastics, bodybuilding, wrestling, sport dancing, circus, fitness and many other events. The show will be held in honour of the United Nations’ International Year of Sport and Physical Education, and will also celebrate the UN’s 60th anniversary. Children from every corner of Ukraine, especially from vulnerable communities, will be brought to Kyiv free of charge to attend the event. Golden Liliya promotes friendship, tolerance, healthy life styles, and understanding among children, adults, and people from different countries.

The show presentation is ultramodern, with professional sound and light effects. Twelve directors have been invited to participate (from the USA, Russia, and Ukraine).
