Kyiv, April 4, 2017 – Ukraine’s economy grew modestly by 2.3 percent in 2016 after 16 percent cumulative contraction in the previous two years, according to the World Bank’s latest Ukraine Economic Update.

Kyiv, Ukraine (31 March 2017) – In 2017, the Government of Japan, the Government of Ukraine, the United Nations in Ukraine, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) will undertake joint efforts to conduct recovery and peace-building activities in order to support people living in conflict-affected areas in eastern Ukraine. Six projects are funded by the Government of Japan totalling USD 3.9 million.

In less than one month, thousands of most vulnerable women and adolescent girls affected by the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine may lose access to life-saving services provided through mobile psychosocial counselling and health services as the long-standing commitment of UNFPA Ukraine to respond to their acute humanitarian needs is under a grave threat if no continued funding materialized for 2017.

KYIV/GENEVA, 17 February 2017 – As the volatile conflict in eastern Ukraine enters its fourth year, 1 million children are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance - nearly double the number this time last year, said UNICEF.

Ukraine has ratified the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and so is reviewed regularly by the Committee on how it is implementing the Convention.
