24 October 2016, Kyiv - UN Resident Corodinator in Ukraine congratulated Ukrainians on United Nations Day.

Between July and September 2016 oblast consultations on adaptation and localization of SDGs were held in Ukraine, aiming to determine priority Goals and ways to achieve them. This initiative brought together voices from all around the country.

GENEVA/KYIV (15 September 2016) – A new UN report released on Thursday describes the deterioration of the human rights situation in eastern Ukraine, as a result of escalating hostilities between June and August, and the continued disregard for the protection of civilians by both sides of the conflict.

GENEVA (13 September 2016) – The United Nations Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture (SPT) on Friday concluded its visit to Ukraine. The experts returned to Ukraine from 5 to 9 September to resume a visit they had suspended in May after being unable to access some places under the authority of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). 

GENEVA / KYIV (29 August 2016) – The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the human rights of internally displaced persons, Chaloka Beyani, today called on the Ukrainian authorities to formulate a comprehensive strategy to prevent and address internal displacement, and provide durable solutions.

In September 2015, leaders of all nations gathered at the United Nations Headquarters in New York and made a historical agreement to work towards “The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”, for all people and the future generations. To bring awareness of the SDGs, a photo contest will be hosted by the United Nations Information Centre and Sophia University, with special cooperation from Getty Images, on the theme “My View on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”. This contest is open to graduate, undergraduate, and vocation college students. This is the first SDG contest of its kind among the 63 UNIC offices network around the world and the United Nations Department of Public Information (UN-DPI).

30 August 2016, Sievierodonetsk – The UNICEF Representative in Ukraine Giovanna Barberis and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine Shigeki Sumi visited eastern Ukraine this week to assess the results of cooperation on projects aimed at improving lives and well-being of children affected by the conflict.

5 August 2016 - For the first time in five months, UNHCR convoys have reached conflict-affected populations in the non-government controlled area of Luhansk region in eastern Ukraine, delivering vitally-needed construction materials for thousands of people who had their homes damaged or destroyed during the conflict.

GENEVA (8 August 2016) – Ukraine’s record on tackling racial discrimination will face scrutiny by the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) on 11 and 12 August. Ukraine is one of the 177 States that have ratified the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination and so is reviewed regularly by the Committee of 18 international independent experts.  

3 August 2016 – UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein on Wednesday called on all parties to the conflict in eastern Ukraine to prioritize the protection of civilians and take urgent steps to de-escalate the increasingly tense situation at the contact line, warning that civilian casualty figures have risen dramatically in the past two months.

20 July 2016 - The United Nations in Ukraine, UN Development Programme, GiZ in Ukraine in partnership with Dnipro regional state administration conducted the first regional consultation on localization of the 2030 Development Agenda and 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Ukraine.

GENEVA/KYIV (14 July 2016) – A new UN report released Thursday describes the widespread killings that have taken place in Ukraine since January 2014 and highlights the very limited accountability that has taken place.

12 July 2016 – As the conflict in Eastern Ukraine continues, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has welcomed a contribution of EUR 800,000 (US$ 891,861 ) in humanitarian aid from the European Union (EU) in support of the WFP-led Logistics Cluster in Ukraine.
