Social inclusion of disabled people: UN in Ukraine and National Assembly of People with Disabilities signed Memorundum of Understanding
13 December 2007. Kyiv, Ukraine – On observance of the International Day of Disabled People and the month devoted to addressing problems of people with disabilities, UN Resident Coordinator in Ukraine Francis M. O’Donnell and Head of the National Assembly of People with Disabilities Valeriy Suchkevych signed a Memorundum of Understanding. The parties agreed to cooperate in protecting rights of People with Disabilities (PWD), promoting their social inclusion, raising public awareness on the challenges of PWD and joining efforts in signing and ratification of the Convention on Rights of People with Disabilities in Ukraine. For the first time published in Ukraine, the Convention in Braille language was presented this day to the journalists.

Campaign to the 60th Anniversary of UDHR is Launched in Ukraine: UN and Ombudsman of Ukraine Signed New Partnership
10 December, Kyiv. Ukraine – The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) turns 60 on 10 December 2008. Today, on Human Rights Day 2007, the United Nations together with partner-organizations all over the world launched the year-long advocacy campaign with slogan “Dignity and Justice for All of Us”. To mark this important milestone, in Ukraine, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the UN system in Ukraine and the Ombudsman of Ukraine.

Third Regional Launch of Global Compact Initiative was Conducted in Odessa
Odessa, 6 December, 2007 The Global Compact (GC) regional launch was conducted on Thursday in Odessa at the conference hall of Odessa Oblast State Administration. The launch was organised by the United Nations in Ukraine with the support of Odessa Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The main objective of the event was to introduce the Global Compact initiative as the largest corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative worldwide to local businesses in Odessa, and to provide information about the development of the initiative in Ukraine.
