Third Regional Launch of Global Compact Initiative was Conducted in Odessa
Odessa, 6 December, 2007 The Global Compact (GC) regional launch was conducted on Thursday in Odessa at the conference hall of Odessa Oblast State Administration. The launch was organised by the United Nations in Ukraine with the support of Odessa Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The main objective of the event was to introduce the Global Compact initiative as the largest corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative worldwide to local businesses in Odessa, and to provide information about the development of the initiative in Ukraine.

Future society is an inclusive one providing equal opportunities for disabled, UN Resident Coordinator in Ukraine
Kyiv, 4 December 2007 - The National Assembly of Disabled People of Ukraine initiated the round table discussion "UN Convention on the Rights of Disabled People and the Council of Europe Plan on people with physical disabilities: national implementation - from policy to practice". UN Resident Coordinator in Ukraine Francis O'Donnell took part in this discussion on the best world and European knowledge and practices to address challenges of disabled people as well as on elaboration of recommendations and further actions to be taken in Ukraine.

Kyiv, Ukraine: On observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities the President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko headed the All-Ukrainian meeting of the state authorities and public organizations working with disabled "Ukraine without Barriers". Addressing the participants, UN Resident Coordinator in Ukraine Mr. Francis O'Donnell appreciated the latest President Decree on authorizing Ukraine's signing of the UN Convention on Rights of People with Disabilities and promised to lend full support.
