UNDP uncovers new business opportunities for Ukraine's private sector in the Black Sea region
Kyiv, 31 October: The UN Development Programme (UNDP) has announced a USD 27 billion worth of business potential for Ukranian enterprises in the Black Sea Economic Cooperation region. The finding was revealed at the official presentation of the Black Sea Trade and Investment Promotion Programme (BSTIP) in Kyiv today. The overall aim of the programme is to support economic growth and development in the Black Sea region through closer economic integration and to expand intra-regional trade and investment links among Black Sea Economic Cooperation Member States.

United Nations 62st Anniversary: Joint Press Briefing by UN in Ukraine and Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Welcoming the journalists, the UN Resident Coordinator congratulated all on the anniversary of establishing the United Nations and emphasized Ukraine's historic role as a founding member. UNDP, Ukrainian government sign Memorandum of understanding in support of civil service and public administration reform in Ukraine
According to the agreement, the bilateral cooperation will be aimed at providing UN-led assistance to the Ukrainian government, namely the Main Department of Civil Service of Ukraine, in the area of institutional reforms, focusing on support to the process of civil service development within the framework of administration reform in Ukraine.

Youth Conference «Healthy youth – healthy future»
October 19-21, 2007 in the art house "Actor" in Yalta UNFPA Youth Conference «Healthy youth - healthy future» was conducted. The main goal of the conference was to present and discuss successful experience and working results to define challenges and ways of further improvements in the area of youth health. Almost 70 people took part in the conference. Among the participants there were students of Ukrainian higher educational institutions, members of UNFPA Youth Network KRONA, members of UNFPA Youth Advisory Panel, winners of the UNFPA mini-grants contest, as well as youth focal points from Republic of Belarus.

IOM Kyiv Honours Ukrainians who Fight Human Trafficking
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mission in Ukraine hosted its Third Annual Counter-Trafficking Awards Ceremony on October 18th 2007. The Ceremony, which took place at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), honoured individuals and organizations that have distinguished themselves with dedication and courage in the fight against human trafficking. The event was organized in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Ministry of Family, Youth and Sports of Ukraine, and with the financial support of USAID/Ukraine and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).

Over 38 Million People break Guinness World Record for Stand Up Speak Out on International Day for the Eradication of Poverty
18 October, 2007: Over 38.7 million people, in 110 countries have broken the Guinness World Record - set last year at 23.5 million - for the largest number of people to "STAND UP AGAINST POVERTY" in 24 hours. Ukraine for the first time joined "STAND UP AGAINST POVERTY". On 17th October 4926 people in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhya, Kherson, Khmelnitsky and Slavutych, Borodyanka, Ivankiv stood up simultaneously and supported the global movement against poverty.
