The UN
Country Team in Ukraine would like to inform partners
that it no longer has institutional cooperation of any sort with the
Inter-regional Academy of Personnel Management (MAUP).
Ukraine, 17 October, 2007: Today the “STAND UP AND SPEAK OUT AGAINST POVERTY” initiative took place for the first time in Ukraine devoted to the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. In different cities of Ukraine 4926 people symbolically stood up to support the global movement against poverty and set a new Guinness World Record.

The principle
of non-violence - also known as non-violent resistance - rejects the use of
physical violence in order to achieve social or political change. Often described
as "the politics of ordinary people", this form of social struggle has been
adopted by mass populations all over the world in campaigns for social justice.
Newly elected members of the UNFPA Youth Advisory Panel (YAP) met at UNFPA Country Office, Kyiv, on 28 September, 2007. The main goal of YAP is to provide assistance to UNFPA in coordination of activities targeting young people and develop recommendations regarding future activities.
In his article "Leadership and Climate Change" devoted to the UN High Level Meeting on Climate Change, the Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon emphasizes "Every day brings new evidence. Climate change has become a personal reality, for each and every one of us on this planet".
On Friday- 21 September 2007 - the International Day of Peace - United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will honour Her Royal Highness Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein of Jordan, First Lady of Dubai; Israeli/Argentinean conductor Daniel Barenboim; Brazilian author Paulo Coelho and Japanese-American violinist Ms. Midori Goto by designating them as United Nations Messengers of Peace.

September, 2007 The launch of the first edition of
Responsible Business Directory Ukraine was conducted today in Kyiv at the
conference hall of the Hyatt Hotel within the frameforke of the Global Compact
Initiative in Ukraine, and in partnership with the Ukrainian Chamber of
Commerce and Industry, European Business Association, American Chamber of
Commerce and with the support of Ukraine Citizen Action Network (UCAN). During
the launch the first bilingual publication in Ukraine featuring socially
responsible companies that work in the local market and implement corporate
social responsibility practices in the
country was presented.
