Art-therapy for children living with cancer

From 6 until 31 March 2006 the United Nations House hosts a charity exhibition fair of works made by students aged from 5 to 17 of Zhytomyr “Art-Village” Studio and Art Director of the Studio, Member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine, Ms. Olena Guzenko.

The exhibition fair is aimed to collect money that will be used for the Art-Therapy lessons for children living with cancer, receiving medical treatment at the Children’s Department of Kyiv’s Lomonosov Oncology Institute.

Art-therapy is a new approach to the treatment of children living with cancer, which treats not the body but child’s soul. One hour spent drawing, sculpting, allows a child to delve deep into the world of his/her imagination, leaving pain, sufferings and diagnosis behind.
