| 11 July 2006, KYIV. The United Nations Office in Ukraine has welcomed the creation of the Ukrainian Agency for International Development by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine as a crucially important contribution to meeting the world’s Millennium Development Goals. As part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, this Agency will now enable Ukraine to become an active donor of international technical aid, rather than only a recipient of such heretofore. This new instrument introduced by the Ukrainian government will constitute an effective mechanism in implementing Ukrainian policy of providing technical assistance to the foreign states, and is an important step forward in Ukraine’s integration process to the world community and contribution to building up its position as an important partner in addressing the most burning needs and challenges of today’s world. “The creation of the Ukrainian Agency for International Development is an important milestone in foreign policy development, and a major contribution to meeting Millennium Development Goal number 8 – a global partnership for development. From now on, Ukraine becomes a member of the world’s donor community acting in concert with other UN member states and international organizations to provide assistance to those in need”, emphasized Francis M.
