Newly elected members of the UNFPA Youth Advisory
Panel (YAP) met at UNFPA Country Office, Kyiv, on 28 September, 2007. The main
goal of YAP is to provide assistance to UNFPA in coordination of activities
targeting young people and develop recommendations regarding future
activities.
In the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Borys Vornyk, UNFPA Assistant
Representative, highlighted UNFPA youth strategy and emphasized the importance
of UNFPA collaboration with youth. Further discussions were facilitated by
Mr.Rustam Logaj, YAP Chair, and student of Lviv State University of Vital
Activity Safety.
The agenda of the meeting was, as follows:
- Information about International Peer-Education Network - Y-PEER;
- Information about UNFPA National Youth Network - KRONA;
- Development of video-guide for peer-educators safe behaviour promotion
among young people;
- Presentation of Campaign ‘Stand Up and Speak Out Against Poverty and
Inequality';
- Development of a YAP workplan for 2007-2008;
- Information about the manual ‘Standards in Peer Education';
- Presentation of successful experience in safe behaviour promotion among
students at Kharkiv National University of Economics;
- Development of a poster dedicated to safe behaviour promotion among young
people.
The next meeting of YAP members will be at UNFPA Youth Conference "Healthy
youth - healthy future" to be held in Yalta, on 19-21 October,
2007.
