October 19-21, 2007 in the art house "Actor" in Yalta UNFPA Youth
Conference «Healthy youth - healthy future» was conducted. The main
goal of the conference was to present and discuss successful experience
and working results to define challenges and ways of further
improvements in the area of youth health.
Almost 70 people took
part in the conference. Among the participants there were students of
Ukrainian higher educational institutions, members of UNFPA Youth
Network KRONA, members of UNFPA Youth Advisory Panel, winners of the
UNFPA mini-grants contest, as well as youth focal points from Republic
of Belarus.
The Conference was opened by the honorary speakers, as follows:
- Dr. Borys Vornyk, UNFPA Assistant Representative, Ukraine;
- Ms. Tatiana Haplichnik, UNFPA Programme Coordinator in Belarus;
- Mr. Dmytro Kulibaba, Adviser to the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine.
Later, the members of UNFPA Youth Advisory Panel conducted a series of trainings for participants, namely:
- Prevention of HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections (STI),
- Prevention of drug and psychoactive substances abuse;
- Prevention of unwanted pregnancy among youth.
Together
they developed recommendations for further activities targeting youth
within the framework of UNFPA student organizations' network. Also, the
work plan for 2008 focused on youth was discussed.
