6 February 2008. New York - Kyiv. The UN announces a competition for youth "Film Your Issue". To take part in the contest, students aged 15-24 have to create 30-120 second films on issues that have an impact on their lives.
Goal and Themes for Filming.
The United Nations Department of Public Information (DPI) has partnered with Film Your Issue to increase awareness of global issues among future film makers.
The six United Nations Global Themes for the 2008 FYI competition are: Climate Change, Human Rights, Intellectual Property, Peace, Tolerance, Migration.
Deadline
By 14 April 2008 the applicants have to register and upload their films to the web-site www.filmyourissue.com
Awards
Major prizes are summer internship at Universal Pictures, trip to New York to Awards Ceremony at U.N. Headquarters.
The UN Department of Public Information will also present two special awards to winners of the best film in the category - UN Global Themes - and the best film on Human Rights in the frameworks of the campaign "60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights".
The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) will present a third special award for the best film on intellectual property
