UN disclaims information provided by several mass media outlets

refoulement.jpg4 April 2008. Kyiv, Ukraine. The United Nations Country Team in Ukraine is concerned by the recent incorrect statements in the media outlets concerning UN assessment of the health system in Ukraine.

“The experts of the UN agencies in Ukraine have not made statements and comments regarding the absence of the adequate health system in Ukraine”, stated Dr Igor Pokanevych,  Head of WHO Country Office in Ukraine and Head of the UN Ukraine Theme Group on Health. “We urge the mass media to be more responsible in delivery of information and avoid speculative, incorrect headlines”, added Dr Pokanevych.

The media are invited to ask questions on the health system in Ukraine and get comments from the Head of WHO Country Office in Ukraine during the press-briefing organized at 11:30, 7 April 2008 at the National O.O.Bohomolets Medical University (34 Peremogy Pr. Morfologichniy (Central) Korpus, Room # 1).
