Young Ukrainian footballers support International Day of Peace

world initiative against violence organized with support of United Nations
Global Compact Network in Ukraine, Puma Company and non-governmental organization
Peace One Day. A sports festival took place in Kyiv while a football game was
played in Donetsk.
International
Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations Organization as a
day of peace and global rejection from violence. Every year on 21 September
people all over the world commemorate this day in different ways.
On 21
September on the occasion of International Day of Peace a sports festival for
children and parents took place in Obolon’ rayon of Kyiv in support of peace in
the world. With the support of Puma Company and Global Compact Network in Ukraine a
charity football game took place among young football players. Guests
participated in various football competitions and won prizes.
At the football
game of Ukrainian Championship FC “Metalurg” /Donetsk/ vs. FC “Lviv”, Donetsk team played in T-shirts
symbolizing Peace One Day and thus supported the initiative of promoting
International Day of Peace. This is the first case in Ukraine when
football community is supporting global world movement. Besides a Ukrainian
club the initiative was also supported by FC “Stuttgart”
and FC “Olympiakos”together with Italy, Poland and Austria National Teams.
