3 December 2009. Kyiv, Ukraine - International Labor Organization (ILO), United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Public Employment Service of Ukraine jointly presented a Model of Employment and Job Placement for People with Disabilities developed under the Project "Social Integration of People with Disabilities by Providing Access to Employment" on December 2. The event was timed to precede the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which is observed all over the world on December 3.
3 December 2009. Kyiv, Ukraine - The Cabinet of Ministers places great value on the long-term cooperation with the UN on building a democratic society.
"The government appreciates the long-term cooperation with the UN
towards building a democratic society and solving social and
environmental issues, which is especially important in light of the new
global challenges facing the Ukrainian economy during the global
financial crisis,"Vice Prime Minister for European and International
Integration Hryhoriy Nemyria said today during a meeting with the UN
System Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Ukraine,
Olivier Adam.
1 December 2009, Kyiv, Ukraine - On 30 November the hearings of the Verkhovna Rada`s Committee on
Industrial and Regulatory Policy and Entrepreneurship “Developing
Corporate Social Responsibility: Ukrainian Perspective” were organized
upon the initiative of the UN and the Global Compact in Ukraine. The
hearings were focused on developing a national policy and action plan
for promoting and aligning corporate social responsibility with larger
development goals.

Copenhagen and Moscow, 19 November 2009. - Findings of new WHO study: 70% of deaths on European roads occur in poorer countries and 40% are among pedestrians, motorcyclists and cyclists. Two out of three road traffic deaths are in low- and middle-income countries, according to a new study from the WHO Regional Office for Europe published today.

Yanina Sokolovskaya, Chief Editor of the daily newspaper Izvestiya in Ukraine, stated at a press conference at UNIAN that the goal of the project is to strengthen the nation's health by promoting healthy lifestyles, balanced and positive attitudes, benefits, nutrition, physical training and sports, prevention of cardiovascular and other diseases, deprivation of bad habits and dependencies.

13 November 2009. Rome - Kyiv -The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) called for a day-long worldwide hunger strike against chronic hunger.
FAO Director-General Jacques Diouf urged everyone in the world who wants to show solidarity with the one billion hungry people to go on hunger strike next Saturday or Sunday.
