United Nations 62st Anniversary: Joint Press Briefing by UN in Ukraine and Ministry of Foreign Affairs
25 October, 2007. Kyiv, Ukraine. UN Resident Coordinator in Ukraine Francis M. O'Donnell and First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Volodymyr Handogiy delivered a joint press briefing on observance of the 62nd anniversary of the United Nations. Welcoming the journalists, the UN Resident Coordinator congratulated all on the anniversary of establishing the United Nations and emphasized Ukraine's historic role as a founding member. Reception to the UN Day in Ukraine
On 24 October 2007 the reception devoted to the 62nd anniversary of the United Nations was conducted in Kyiv. Numerous friends and partners of the UN family in Ukraine joined the celebration of the United Nations birthday.On 24 October 1945 the United Nations was formally established after a majority of its founding members ratified a treaty setting up the world body. The UN representative office in Ukraine was opened in 1992. Currently, the UN Country Team in Ukraine consists of 13 UN agencies, international organizations and associated institutions. UNDP launches new project in support of civil service reform in Ukraine

UNDP, Ukrainian government sign Memorandum of understanding in support
of civil service and public administration reform in Ukraine
Kyiv, 23 October: The United Nations Development Programme and the Government of Ukraine have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on support of civil service system reform within the framework of public administration reform in Ukraine. The agreement was signed by Mr. Francis M. O'Donnell, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Ukraine and Mr. Tymofiy Motrenko, chairman of the Main Department of Ukrainian Civil Service. Full story...

United Nations in Ukraine and Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Sign Memorandum of Understanding

The United Nations Office in Ukraine and the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund signed a Memorandum on Mutual Understanding as part of the Global Compact Initiative in Ukraine. Ukraine Joined STAND UP Against Poverty Movement: over 38.8 Million People in 110 countries Set New Guinness World Record
On 17 October 2007 over 38.8 million people, in 110 countries have broken the Guinness World Record - set last year at 23.5 million - for the largest number of people to "STAND UP AGAINST POVERTY" in 24 hours. Ukraine for the first time joined "STAND UP AGAINST POVERTY". On 17th October 4926 people in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhya, Kherson, Khmelnitsky and Slavutych, Borodyanka, Ivankiv stood up simultaneously and supported the global movement against poverty.
